Current and recent freelance clients include Writers’ News, BBC Magazines Bristol, HMV Choice, Naxos, the Royal Opera House, and Blackfish Publishing. Gary recently finished editorial work on the second edition of John Barry – The Man With The Midas Touch.

Between 1999-2004 Gary freelanced extensively for Amazon.co.uk book, music and dvd departments. He has provided editorial services or provided content for the London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, The British Music Society, Northern Stage, Newsquest, Mellowdrama Records, the HMV catalogue and the composer Christopher Gordon (Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World).

Science Fiction & Fantasy

Since 2000 Gary Dalkin has reported on the science fiction, fantasy and horror markets for leading UK print magazine Writers’ News. This gives Gary extensive insight into UK and international markets, and inside knowledge of editorial requirements in an increasingly competitive publishing world. Gary also writes reviews and articles for the science fiction magazine DeathRay.

1999–2004: wrote extensively for Amazon.co.uk, including many articles, interviews and professional reviews for Amazon’s science fiction and fantasy book department.

1999-2001: served as one of the judges of the Arthur C. Clarke Award, the most respected UK award in the science fiction & fantasy genres.

1995-2000: Features Editor of Vector: The Critical Journal of the British Science Fiction Association.

Gary has written on science fiction for Empire, Interzone, Matrix and SFX.
