Poole Literary Festival

Join us between 29-31 October 2010 for a stimulating and inspiring programme of events, as Poole plays host to a wealth of literary talent – writers, poets, performers and artists along with a few surprises. Confirmed guests include Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy, plus Adrian Beckingham, Mavis Cheek, Katie Fforde, David Gaffney, Elvis McGonagall, Deborah Moggach, Michael Morpurgo (our Festival Patron), Imogen Parker, Adele Parks, Keira Rathbone, Nicky Singer, Minette Walters and BOAT Players. We are also launching Britain’s first New Media Writing Prize (I am the Press & Media Coordinator for the Poole Literary Festival and the New Media Writing Prize), in partnership with Bournemouth University.

Our abiding passion is to make Poole Literary Festival an established annual event, which is a major contributor to the cultural life of Poole and a highlight in the UK literary calendar. The Poole Literary Festival will provide the opportunity to meet some of your favourite authors and discover new ones through our programme of workshops, discussions and events for adults, children and families. By creating an environment where people can dive into a world of words we hope to ignite your literary passions and leave you wanting more.

The Festival will be varied – a mix of serious and sparky, big names alongside the up-and-coming, with some surprises to create that edge and catch us unawares. But most of all it will be fun.

Poole is a unique location: natural resources that are world class; a quirky Quay; a highly regarded University; Lighthouse, the largest regional arts venue in the country and home of the PLF; fine restaurants; and first-class accommodation. As a venue, we are hard to beat. The enormous growth in literary festivals in recent years is good news and a remarkable success story, Poole is part of that success.
